All of my weavings are a fiesta of color and texture play! This piece is my interpretation of a coastal landscape.
I used some of my hand dyed and hand spun wool & silk yarns along with other fibers including cotton, silk, wool, rayon, fabric strips (dyes and natural), and some subtle touches of metallic fibers. Easily displayed by the linen cord and copper rod--one simple nail is all you need!
The fringe/textured areas are made with a combination of tabby weaving and rya knots. The upper portion is woven using a sturdy rug weave technique.
This style is the evolution of my weavings I made in the 1980's when I was a full time weaver. I have always loved playing with color and texture!
