I dyed this silk and rayon velvet fabric using permanent procion dyes. These fiber reactive dyes actually bond to the fibers and yield excellent colorfastness. Mostly dark blue tones with some purple and green.
Because of the weave structure this is a reversible scarf--the colors are much more prominent on the pure silk side with the velvet showing as mostly lush dark blues. I used Egyptian cotton thread for the serged edges. Because the cotton takes my dyes as easily as the silk and rayon, the result is a lovely range of colors along the edges blending into the scarf body itself. Very yummy!
