I hand dyed this tussah silk scarf using permanent procion dyes. These are fiber reactive dyes and yield excellent color fastness. Tussah silk is made from the shorter/broken silk fibers resulting when silk is reeled from the cocoon. It has a wonderful soft and slightly nubby quality with a marvelous drape. I used Egyptian cotton thread for the serged edges which makes for an additional color embellishment and not just an ordinary finish. A Bali silver bead is hand sewn to each scarf corner for extra fun!
