Garden; Late Spring

Wall Jewelry; This piece is packed with glorious color in the background. It is 12" x 12" and is made of eco-etched copper and brass with lots of Sterling silver. Each of the 10 segments was hand drawn prior to etching and the motifs include several different stylized flowers, some with leaves and stems as well as loads of funky textures, circles and so much more. After the etching was complete, the reticulated Sterling silver hoops were carefully solder in place, joining the units together. There are ten silver hoops with the largest being almost 3" across and the smallest just over an inch. Next, each piece was carefully flame painted to achieve a full range of colors including pink, yellow, orange, red violet, violet, blue and green. The surface was then sanded away to reveal the copper and brass color and free the etched design from the heated background. The colors are pastel to mid hue and are simply glorious close up. The surface was then sprayed with lacquer to protect the colors. Finally, the units were all hand stitched to a hand quilted black linen background then the background was hand stitched to a stretched canvas that was painted black. The backside is finished with heavy paper and a saw-tooth hanger was added.
