I love the vivid blue, aqua and green tones in this duo!
This piece features a gorgeous Koroit Boulder Opal cabochon, with a bright blue, aqua and teal opal deposit, in an ironstone matrix. The drop is a solid, precious Ethiopian Opal pear with blue and green flashes.
By the way, if you'd like to buy just the top Boulder Opal or only the Opal pear, let me know, I'll quote you a price.
The top pendant is Australian Boulder Opal. The bottom pendant is Ethiopian Opal.
The gem beads are, in order, aqua Apatite, shaded blue Sapphire and purplish-blue Tanzanite.
The tiny seed beads are both Japanese and Czech glass in a variety of sizes.
The lobster clasp, and chain and crimp beads are the only metal on this piece, and they are 14K Gold filled (though if you prefer Sterling Silver, I will switch them at no extra cost).
The pendant, including the beaded bail, is 1 3/4 inches long.
The centerpiece is 9/16 inches wide.
The necklace length is your choice: just choose what length you'd like, anywhere up to 24 inches at no extra cost, plus I add a 1.5 inch extender chain on each piece. If you'd like it shorter or longer (than the options in the drop-down menu), just message me.
Your new necklace comes packaged in a pretty, sturdy cardboard gift box, with cotton padding. I will ship your new necklace First Class, via USPS, for free, with insurance and tracking.
How it's made:
The setting is made of tiny glass seed beads, which are hand stitched, one bead to the next, with a fine beading needle, using a heavy-duty, 6 lb test, spun, braided, nylon beading thread. There are multiple plies of this thread in every bead! I start making a netting to form the back side of the bezel, and then, while holding the stone in place, I sew one bead at a time around the perimeter of the cabochon, slowly building the beaded bezel to fit each unique gemstone, until it is encased. My beadwork is NOT attached to the stone, just well-fitted to it.
The straps are strung on cable, which is made of 49 strands of stainless steel microwire, coated with nylon to protect it from abrasion, rated at a minimum of 10 lb test strength.
When you look at these, bear in mind, I am NOT a photographer. I guarantee this is prettier in person! I took these photos in natural daylight and do my best to accurately portray the colors as they look in real life.
